Santa Elena Mexico Mission

Welcome To The Santa Elena Mission, a mission to the indigenous Tarahumara in the Copper Canyon of Mexico!  We have operated The Santa Elena Mission since 2004 near Creel, Mexico. Two dedicated local Christians, Manolo and Rayito Guerrero, are the resident managers of the mission.

Our mission to the Tarahumara people is two-fold!  One mission is to improve their education.   The other is that we show them God’s love and teach the loving way of Jesus. The public school, adjacent to the mission, provides about 3 hours of instruction for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.  After school each day, about 30 children come to our mission for lunch, supplemental instruction on their schoolwork, Christian teaching, and recreation.  Up to 15 children of these children live at the mission in a dormitory environment during the week as their homes are several miles from the school.  The community center property includes a kitchen, a dining room, several classrooms, bath and shower facilities, an area for visiting medical teams and a wood-working shop.

We plan three mission trips to Santa Elena and nearby villages each year to perform facility repairs at the mission and to perform community service projects.  In some of these community service projects, we work as a team with the Tarahumara community members.  Should you feel the calling to assist with this important mission, please contact us.
